Constructing a home is a complex orchestration of multiple trades. Knowing the step-by-step process helps you track progress and manage cash flow effectively.
1. Pre-Construction
This involves soil testing, architectural planning, structural engineering, and obtaining necessary municipal approvals (like GHMC or HMDA).
2. Foundation & Plinth
The most critical phase. This includes excavation, PCC, footing concrete, and raising the structure to the plinth level. Anti-termite treatment is essential here.
3. Superstructure
Raising the columns, building the brick/block walls, and casting the roof slabs. This is when your house starts looking like a house.
4. MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing)
Before plastering, all internal piping and wiring conduits are laid out. This must be perfectly planned as changes later are extremely expensive.
5. Finishing & Handover
Plastering, flooring, painting, installing fixtures, and final touch-ups. Once everything passes quality checks, the keys are handed over!
